Volunteer
Join us in our community-building efforts! Become a volunteer in our Adult Programs, Child Care or Youth Options Unlimited programs. Please fill out and submit the online volunteer application and our volunteer coordinator will contact you.
Adult Programs
Erie needs volunteers for individual or small group tutoring in citizenship preparation, Spanish literacy, technology training, ESL and GED preparation. Must commit to once a week for a minimum of 1.5 hours.

New Americans Initiative
Volunteers are needed to participate in citizenship workshops to work directly with citizenship applicants on how to fill out required forms. Training is provided.
When legal permanent residents become citizens, they gain voting rights. Empower someone to use his or her voice. The New Americans Initiative provides an innovative holistic approach to citizenship unifying outreach, immigrant rights advocacy, citizenship classes, civic education and legal services catered to legal permanent residents. As the lead agency of the Northwest Chicago Collaborative, Erie House serves as the administrative manager coordinating the five organizations and maintaining all files for the micro region.
Child Care
Classroom assistants are needed for all age groups. Volunteers will work with individuals or small groups. Duties may include reading stories, playing games and classroom set-up and clean-up. Administrative volunteers are also welcome.
Youth Options Unlimited
Tutoring to Educate for Aims & Motivation (TEAM), Erie's mentoring program, provides academic and personal support for at-risk 9th through 12th grade students. TEAM mentors will serve as role models and work with students to improve academic performance and educate them in life skills and choices. Must commit to Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. throughout the academic year.
