Erie to Host Resist!: Teen Health Fair and Workshops

What: Erie Neighborhood House is partnering with United Health Care, State Farm and other organizations and professionals to host a health fair and workshops geared toward youth and their families. Workshops will focus on: healthy relationships, HIV/STDs and birth control, preparing healthy snacks, anti-bullying, and teen depression will be offered. Participants will also be able to participate in a variety of activities such as basketball, zumba, salsa, and capoeira. Finally, a panel of health professions will be talking to youth and their families about how to resist peer pressure and drugs. The goals are to provide health resources and information to youth and demonstrate the positive benefits of engaging in healthy behaviors. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided (free of charge) to all youth in attendance.

Who: Erie Neighborhood House; United Health Care; State Farm; Youth Options Unlimited- Youth Council; Planned Parenthood; Chicago Womens Health Center; Vida/SIDA; Lakeshore Hospital; New Moms; Streamwood Behavioral; Erie Family Clinic; Connections for Abused Women and their Children; Sarah’s Inn, and Alivio Medical.

Open to the community; registration is open and free for youth (7th grade through senior in high school) with 140 slots available.
