Graduating high school can be a key determinant of a student’s future path. TEAM fosters the growth and development of our youth so they’re able to achieve success and make a better life for themselves and their families by pairing students with individual mentors for guidance and preparation for what’s to come.
TEAM is divided into two groups: TEAM Start Strong with an emphasis on mathematics, writing and the transition to high school, and TEAM End Strong for upperclassmen, dedicated to college preparation, enrollment and job shadowing. TEAM End Strong also has access to college scholarships, comprehensive workshops on the financial aid application process and visits Chicago’s largest college fair.
Program Goals
- Help youth in our community graduate from high school and continue to college
- Promote positive relationships between our youth and their adult influences and peers
- Assist youth in developing leadership skills, a commitment to the community and the confidence to pursue their interests
TEAM’s Impact
TEAM provides a safe place for youth to learn and gain leadership skills that set them on their path to college. Many youth comment that if they did not have Erie House, they would spend time on the street and perhaps become involved with gangs or made other poor decisions.
