Learn. Lead. Create Community.: Where Are We Now? The Latino Perspective

October 1, 2014 | Chicago, IL

September LLCC Event

Erie House hosted its fifth and final Learn. Lead. Create Community. salon series event on immigration on Thursday, September 25th, asking the question, "Where are we now?" from a Latino perspective.

The event was well-attended and generated some timely, thought-provoking conversation in the wake of President Obama's decision to delay administrative action on behalf of immigrant children and families until after the November mid-term elections.

Eveylyn Rodriguez, Director of Community Outreach for the Office of Alderman Joe Moreno and Chicago's 1st Ward, gave a presentation examining the Obama Administration's track record on immigration to frame the conversation. Panelists at the event included Vero Castro (Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights); Luis Roman (Association of Latinos/as Motivating Action); Vanessa Uribe (National Council of La Raza); and Giovanna Valdez (Latinos Progresando).
