VistaNational Insurance Group, Inc., Will Receive Future of Promise Corporate Impact Award
January 29, 2019 | Chicago, IL
If assessing and negotiating insurance and benefits plans for a company or organization sounds nuanced and complicated, well, that’s because it can be.
Enter VistaNational Insurance Group, Inc., an employee benefits and insurance broker that prides itself in being large and influential enough to deliver a quality, affordable service but not so big that it loses touch with its clients and their individual needs.
“We’ve found that providing that extra layer of support helps our clients,” says Brian Walsh, principal and managing director for VistaNational. “A lot of our clients are on the nonprofit side, so we try to take some of the burden off of HR and directly serve employees at each organization.”
“One of the key things we do is help develop our staff on an internal level,” says Walsh. His tenure with VistaNational spans more than 2 decades, so he’s seen the impact of this sort of investment. “When we succeed in doing that, they become very invested in making sure our clients are taken care of as well.”
“While we’re very structured in what we do, we’re also very family-oriented,” adds Kahlil Hogan, principal and director of operations for VistaNational. “It’s creating that sort of culture that helps people—both our employees and our clients—succeed.”
Walsh, Hogan and their colleagues at VistaNational will be in attendance at the Future of Promise Awards Dinner, the annual fundraising gala hosted by Erie Neighborhood House, on Thursday, March 14, to accept the Corporate Impact Award.
The perpetual honor is awarded to a company in the corporate space whose mission and commitment to giving back to the community align well with the core values of Erie House.

Walsh and Hogan both seem genuinely humbled by the award. “We’re very grateful to be receiving this honor,” says Hogan. “The work we do pales in comparison to the work Erie House is doing.”
The recognition is particularly special because of the longstanding relationship their firm has developed with Erie House. VistaNational has been the primary broker for Erie House for more than a decade. Beyond that, Walsh has served as an ad hoc member of the Erie House Board of Directors’ operations committee and Hogan became a board member in 2016.

“VistaNational is a trusted partner, both for our HR team and our staff,” says Erie House executive director Kirstin Chernawsky. “They have gone above and beyond simply delivering a quality service, though. The roles that Brian and Kahlil each play in providing insight and expertise to Erie House at the decision-making level are invaluable.”
“I’ve gotten to meet a lot of the employees at Erie House,” says Walsh, reciting names of staff members and correlating stories, all of which have clearly made an impression on him. “The work they do is incredible,” he adds. “It makes me proud to be working with an organization like Erie House.”
“That was one of the big reasons I wanted to join the board,” says Hogan. In addition to serving in a board capacity, he has brought his children to volunteer at the agency from time to time. “I wanted to have some impact or influence in some of the decisions that are made to make sure Erie House continues to thrive.”
VistaNational will be honored alongside inQUEST Consulting (Diversity & Inclusion Award) and John Burns Construction Company (Community Investment Award) the March 14 gala event.
This year, Erie House will also formalize an honor to recognize the strength, resilience and hope exhibited by one of its own community members. Pastora Ramirez and her son, Felix Garcia—residents of Chicago’s Little Village/South Lawndale community who participate in the Proyecto Cuídate program at Erie House—will receive the inaugural Future of Promise Award.
The Future of Promise Awards Dinner is being chaired by Ronald G. Kaminski, chief executive officer of HBK Engineering, and will take place on Thursday, March 14, at Chicago’s Radisson Blu Aqua (221 N Columbus Dr).
