November 30, 2018 | Chicago, IL
Erie Neighborhood House executive director Kirstin Chernawsky was named to the Crain’s Chicago Business 40 Under 40 class of 2018.
The annual list was published in the November 30, 2018, issue of Crain’s and includes a diverse array of professionals making their mark on the city of Chicago. Chernawsky is among a small handful of nonprofit executives named to the 2018 class.
It also highlights Chernawsky’s leadership as the agency proactively responded (and continues to respond) to the Trump administration’s policies that have negatively impacted immigrants both here in Chicago and across the country.
“Our staff have met these challenges with so much resolve,” said Chernawsky. “They know what’s at stake for our families, and it’s because of their commitment that Erie House continues to thrive as an organization.”
“We’re proud of the passion and leadership Kirstin demonstrates each and every day,” said Erie House board president Patty Gaytan Perez. “She has played an important role in securing and expanding access to vital services at a time when so many in our immigrant communities are looking to Erie House for strength and support.”
Since 1989, Crain’s has honored 1,200 people, many of whom have gone on to national recognition. Notable 40 Under 40 alums include Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Valerie Jarrett, Rahm Emanuel, J.B. Pritzker, Sally Grimes, Ken Griffin, Nate Silver and Chance the Rapper.
