One of the most critical and valuable skills a child can develop is reading comprehension.
The READS literacy initiative operates at Erie House's Little Village location. Formerly known as Partners for Reading, READS is designed to improve children's literacy skills—specifically vocabulary, phonics and reading comprehension. Program participants meet two hours weekly with a reading specialist, who guides the children through customized literacy-building activities.
In Little Village, we partner with community schools to identify prospective READS participants.
